Ngahere Wise – Waitākere Ranges

Ngahere Wise is a local bushwalking group created to bring people together through a shared love of the Waitākere Ranges and Ao- tearoa’s native wildlife.

Each month, we meet for a gentle, guided walk where we slow down and explore the forest with curiosity — learning to identify native trees, plants, birds, birdsong, and fungi along the way. Whether you’re brand new to nature walks or have a growing passion for the ngahere (forest), this group is about connection, shared learning, and mindful time in nature.

From time to time, we’re joined by guest speakers who offer deeper insight into the ecology and biodiversity of the ranges, making each walk a chance to grow our knowledge and appreciation for the land.

Walks are held at 10am on the first Saturday of every month, rain or shine. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, just choose the walks that feel right for you.

Let’s walk gently, learn deeply, and reconnect with the wisdom of the forest.
