New Books at the Library
We have recently received an assortment of books from the Auckland Writers Festival. These are not the usual “favourites” of our regular readers, but an exciting array of NZ authors. They include novels, essays, poetry, history, memoirs and biographies, a few examples of which are outlined below.

The Dark is Light Ralph Hotere
a biography of the artist
by Vincent O’Sullivan
Letters to Young People
poems by GP,
poet and children’s writer
Dr Glenn Colquhoun
This Pakeha Life –
an unsettled memoir
by Alison Jones,
whose work focuses on the sociology of education
An Exquisite Legacy
the life, work and paintings of British born
NZ entomologist G.V Hudson 1867-1946
Specimen – personal essays that read like short stories by Madison Hammill
Wild Honey – a survey of 150 years of poetry written by NZ women by Paula Green
With the weather getting colder, it’s lovely to sit down by the fire with a good book to read.
