From the Editor

14 Aug 2025 | News

Hello everyone

It’s hard to believe that eight years have passed since I first took on the role of Editor for this newsletter. Over that time, it’s been a real privilege to bring you updates on local news and events each month—something I’ve truly enjoyed doing and about which I continue to be passionate.

You may notice that this issue looks a little different—it’s in black and white rather than the colour format we’ve grown accustomed to. The reason is simple: the WRRA Committee is working hard to reduce printing costs. Unfortunately, we no longer have the funds to continue producing the newsletter in colour unless we’re able to increase advertising revenue.

Right now, we have a significant amount of advertising space available, and we need to fill it. Without this support, the future of the newsletter is uncertain. If we can’t meet our costs, even a black and white version may become a thing of the past—and I may no longer be your Editor.

If you, or someone you know, runs a local business and would like to promote it, please get in touch with me at editor@waiatarua.org.nz. Your support could make all the difference in keeping this much-loved publication alive and in your letterbox each month.

Cheers, Erin
