Updates from the WRRA Committee

Working Bee

We have planned a working bee to clean up the front “gardens” between the road and the carpark; the date is tentatively booked for Saturday 18th January 2025 – weather dependent! If you have a little time and would like to come and help, we would very much appreciate your assistance. We will keep you informed via Face- book, Instagram and our web site.

Membership

Thank you to the residents who have renewed their membership in recent weeks and to the new members also – your support is much appreciated.
From January 2025 membership cards will be emailed to residents as our supply of pre-paid envelopes is coming to an end and the cost of postage is now prohibitive. With this in mind, please ensure that your email address is included on your payment details together with your street address. Something that you may not know, as an Incorporated Society, we have a legal requirement to hold a current membership list with relevant details. The membership list is held by the WRRA and the information is not used or shared with any other organisation or individual.
If you are unsure of your membership status please email secretary@waiatarua.org.nz and we will advise

Membership:

Thank you to the residents who have renewed their membership in the past month, plus the new residents who have joined.   There are still a number of residents that haven’t renewed so we do hope that you would like to continue being a financial member.   Your  contribution of $20 per household is very much appreciated and assists with the running of the Hall.
Erin:  Please place the membership form in the Newsletter as well.

Rose Hellaby House

An article from the West Auckland Historical Society from 2018 regarding Rose Hellaby House will be added to our website; this provides a great deal of information regarding the early stages of this property together with photos from the early days.
Council are currently calling for expressions of interest for a potential tenant for this property so we are hoping that it will soon have an appropriate tenant in the very near future.   Work is continuing to effect repairs on the house, much of which has already been completed.

50th Anniversary of the Waiatarua Hall and Library

Lots of activities are being planned for this event and these will be covered in a separate article.   We have arranged for the Wonky Dogs food truck to be present and if you haven’t tried their very tasty food then this will be the opportunity!   We are offering current financial members a 50% discount for the Wonky Dogs tasty treats – all you have to do is present your membership card to the Wonky Dogs food truck.   If you are unsure of your status then email me on  secretary@waiatarua.org.nz and I will let you know.  If you have misplaced your card, another can be issued, again just email me.

Membership

Sincere thanks to the residents that have renewed their membership to the WRRA following the receipt of reminder emails being sent when the current membership expires. There are still many residents who have not renewed so you may find another email in your inbox!

We value your membership as the payment of $20 per household goes to help us fund the running of the hall and every little bit helps. I’ve also discovered that some of the names that are on the membership list are not quite correct so please, when renewing, let me have the correct name/s – particularly if there are two names in the household so the records can be brought up to date.

We will be moving to sending the membership cards via email as our supply of prepaid envelopes are coming to an end and with the cost of postage it is not viable to send the new cards by post – hence the email version. We are hoping to have an app in due course but this is still a little way off being finalised.
